Moms Making a Difference Each Day

Hello to all Moms! My thought on starting this blog is one of community outreach. Reaching out to my fellow moms! I want to hear from all the moms out there! Moms of all ages with kids of all ages. I want to hear and share ideas about how we can make the world a better place by taking baby steps, using little tips of the mommy trade and helping one another through all of the daily dilemmas that arise during our "mommyhood".

How do you teach your kids to live "greener"? Do you lead by example? I know in our house, I have made a lot of little of changes over the last few years in a effort to get my act together and live more cleanly. No one is perfect but every little bit makes a big difference. I am trying to teach my kids that. We recycle all of our "curbside" recyclables, share our magazines with friends or school, donate castoffs to friends or charity, recycle metal hangers, return plastic grocery bags (if we have any; we use the cool reusable ones now!). We have cut down on our ziploc bags usage, cut back on electricity, use efficient light bulbs, reducing our driving and combining errands, washing bigger loads, ordering "green" diapers... Whew! All things that our kids are learning and will go up doing.

How do you keep yourself sane? Do you work out, meditate, read, write, go to the spa, cook? How can we all recharge so we can be better parents? That is one I need to really work on! I love to read but find myself to be too tired to get more than a few pages before shutting down for the night! I walk, treadmill and do water aerobics and love the health benefits. All huge anxiety reducers for me!

Do you cook with the kids? Why? I know we have started cooking at home a lot more with all of the rising food and gas costs. My kids love "helping" and are really learning a lot of kitchen skills I just learned ten years ago!

Does your family enjoy volunteering or donating to charity? How early did you start teaching your kids to do good in the community? We love to donate to the local animal shelter and have done it since the kids were born. We donate out castoffs nearby as well. We have started doing the annual community clean up and are looking forward to doing so much more!

I have so much I want to talk about and hear from you! Lets inspire each other, support each other and exchange ideas on how we can be better at one of the most important job in the world- being a mom!
